FIRST MONTH in Spain....What No One TALKS About
This is awesome! 😎
Clearly a lot of these guys don’t ride gnarly mountain bike trails, would not want to ride with them 😏
Wonderful shop and people, great video, regards from England.
Sure get a lot of gear overlap “ratios” with a 46/30. If you did a 40/28, you get virtually no gear overlap “ratios”.
i agree, all the 90's bikes looked better too & some great names like Ritchey, Suntour, Kenda, Shimano gearing, am building my 97 Rockhopper Al comp frame over time, it's a great journey
My wife and I were lucky enough to be in Tossa in January 2019, the 6th I think when the big after Christmas festival is held. It went down the main street right under the balcony of the apartment we were staying in. Loved that town and the castle with the statue of Ava. Didn’t think of it as a cycling destination at the time. 🤷♂️
Like it. Also like the reduced weight of the Mountain Ridge, and the Rene Hurst reputation. Thanks Russ!
That’s a great looking front fork. Who makes that?
Russ, do you find the Ultradynamico tires to “ride” louder than most other tires?
do they make a step through touring bike?
Velo Orange polyvalent.
In the EU it's market protection: the actual production costs of bikes made in Asia are usually just fraction of the consumer price -> import fees, VAT and taxation are HUGE.
I know for the Klampers, you need a short-pull configuration to effectively run them on a drop bar setup.
35:50 -- 'Lance' -> reason for me to *not* get a Trek bike is that I associate that loser with the brand. I see Trek, I see flashes of Armstrong, instant bad taste in my mouth. Plus I'm in Europe: riding on an U.S. branded bike feels 'wrong' anyway. 😉
One of the mistakes is putting glue on one side.
Man those valenica bike lanes are so narrow compared to bike lanes in the Netherlands! Im glad theyre there at all but wow being 2 way and that narrow is crazy! Our 1 way lanes are that wide or wider
My kind of bike shop !
Are there any advantages to using bar end shifters vs combo levers or trigger shifter?
Access to brakes, compatibility to handle bars and derailleurs.
Great Tour, Thank you Fernando!
I would urge you to try out Patagonia’s Wader Bag for fishing. Especially for Tenkara. Just don’t use it on your waders. There are loops on the back of the bag where you can add a waist belt, or add some small 1/2” strap for shoulder cross mount. Very well designed, light weight, and all I need for any Tenkara, or for around town as a waist bag. Versatile.
Nope. Both adds needless extra weight and cost, that should be controlled elsewhere. Spend the time researching what is wrong with your tires, and possibly seat selection, and body position.

Been trying the Brooks C17 for awhile, and I chose it because it’s not leather, but still utilized flexibility and a cutout.
Russ, who makes those forks you’re riding?
The lower tiers will keep going on with the Walmart/target level bikes short of them going with Ltwoo brand. There are still bikes that are freewheel and not use an HG hub.
Anyone who thinks clipless pedals are not all that, doesn't know how to ride a bike. Not exaggerating even a little, clueless.
Anyone who thinks clippless is all that has never looked at the science. Clueless.
I've been using the very similar bar ends "pass-vitesse" in the 70s as an alternative to the downtube shifters. By then it had been already outdated for road races, but still used by cyclocross racers. My idea was a quicker shifting during my sprints, but less precise I must admit. So after a couple of seasons i mounted back some downtube shifters. Main difference, those were not priced like luxury things nor a game changer innovation.
what u do if you don't own a bike trainer?
I recently restored an old 80's road bike. It was the first bike I ever fixed up. At first I was convinced that it should have modern indexed shifting until I realized that you cant just cobble together an indexed drivetrain. You either have to buy a matching groupset, or research parts. If your a Frankenstein bike kind of guy like me you'll find that to be lame. With friction just have to make sure the lever can pull the cable enough to get the chain across all the gears as he explained well in this video. Friction shifting is easier than I thought. After about 2 hours of practice I had it dialed in.
Russ, what internet site do you use to check/graph gearing combination?
I want that old bike he is working on…nice! The work stand is from BiciSupport if anyone is interested, I have a Remco, Park Tool® (both electric) and a Bicisupport. Love them all
I am New to your Channel but it dors give me good biking vibes. Just to say that if you Can put a liste ou link to thé parts you are talking about it would bé cool. Have a good day.
I'm such a fan! Love the Colanago frames in the background.
Is the beholder ec1 useless in 2024? I buy it with 150$
That looked like a fun shop visit. Russ, the hat looks good on you and it fits the vibe. Hope it sticks.
At this moment, rim brakes are underrated
Velo Orange is pure party pace.
So - This video was made two years ago. There are plenty of comments. It seems most of the comments are giving a preference for a front derailleur. I wonder if bike manufacturers see these videos. It seems like a lot of customers still want a front derailleur. My two old bikes are 3X7. Not only does it have the extra chain rings, but I learned the 7 speed chain is bigger. I guess that helps the chain last longer. The videographer is now in Spain. Have they ditched the front derailleurs in Europe?
Oof. Build the same thing out of wood for 1/10 the price. You can even make it foldable.
I really gotta sign up fer that 'BuyMe a Coffee! thang, Fernando may prefer beer instead, but he deserved all the accolades!
I thought it was tubeless til I actually tried it. So far loving it.
Your 8 speed Claris derailleur is a Road Double. That Cues derailleur is a Mountain Double with a wider chainline. The cable pulls have been different for a LONG time. MicroSHIFT makes a bar end shifter for a Mountain Double front Derailleur. Also, no shims for skinny tubing makes sense since modern Mountain Bikes don't use them. I think you're complaining about stuff because you bought the wrong thing. My .02 With that said, I always enjoy your content. Keep doing it. Cheers.
T-line review maybe
Heck yeah! I run the Sword 1x on my gravel bike. However I use a Shimano crank and a Wolf Tooth chain ring. Been pretty happy with it so far!
Damn they name absolutely everything i always think of. So right! Just ride your bike. And by the way.. Steel is real... and titanium. 😉
